2024 LLS Advocacy Priorities for PA and DE

Our mission at LLS is to cure blood cancer, but it’s also to improve Patients’ quality of life. LLS – through the office of Public Policy – works to ensure our nation’s laws and rules help patients navigate and afford cancer care in the face of pressing medical need.

For 2024, the PA & DE Advocacy Committee has prioritized the following:

Financial Burdens

- Reduce out of pocket prescription costs

- Address the direct cost of care by increasing the quality of

insurance coverages, including Medicare, Medicaid, and private

insurance programs

- Eliminate “Junk” insurance plans

Barriers to Care: 

- Reduce pre-authorization treatment delays

- Improve access to Rx insurance coverage

- Improve access to clinical trials to include more diversity

among patients

- Insure interstate Medicaid Cooperation (DE/PA children)

Long-Term Impact of Blood Cancer:

- Reduce mental health stresses and worries of long-term treatment & survivorship

- Reduce stress on caretakers and family

- Improve access to trauma therapy resources

- Address long term economic impact of blood cancers
